Collector databases sometimes disagree on sizes, and new editions appear often. Treat sizes as “reported releases,” not a guarantee of what’s in stores right now. Cyril also appeared as a tiny “Micromallow” in a 5-pack on the official Jazwares store ($14.99, sold out when we checked).
Lijjian: The Original Capybara Squishmallow
If someone asks for “the capybara Squishmallow,” they almost always mean Lijjian. Jazwares’ official listing for the 14-inch Lijjian the Brown Capybara gives her collector number as 2213 and her Squishdate as June 20, 2023, with an MSRP of $19.99. The fan wiki describes her as brown with darker brown ears, a tan fuzzy belly and closed eyes with lashes. It also notes that she was listed as “Jillian” in some early shop listings, which is why you’ll sometimes see that name on resale sites.
Every Squishmallow comes with a bio on its hang tag. Lijjian’s official bio says she’s “one feisty Aries” who loves bringing ‘Mallows together, hosts the best dinner parties in town and is working on a series of short films. Her bestie is Seb.
Lijjian Variants
- Valentine’s (Hearts): smiling, with heart cheeks and two hearts on her belly. Part of the Valentine’s 2025 squad.
- Sleepamallows: an 8-inch edition in Squishmallows’ sleep-themed line, also tied to Valentine’s 2025.
- Fruit / Tangerine: Lijjian with a tangerine on her head and her eyes open, a nod to the famous photos of capybaras with citrus on their heads. (Here’s why capybaras and oranges go together.)
- Christmas Tree: Lijjian in a green tree suit for Holiday 2025.
- Bow: the newest edition we could confirm, with a pink bow tie and a January 20, 2026 Squishdate.
The Other Capybara Squishmallows
Cyril (Dark Teal)
The official 10-inch Cyril listing (MSRP $14.99) describes a dark teal capybara with a fuzzy belly. Her bio says she’s a fearless marathon swimmer training to cross a 30-mile lake, which is fitting, since real capybaras are excellent swimmers (see Can Capybaras Swim?). Collector number 2501, Squishdate January 31, 2024.
Marcia (Maroon)
The official 8-inch Marcia listing (MSRP $12.99) describes her as a maroon capybara with a fuzzy belly and eyelashes. In her bio she’s an appellate attorney by day and an enchilada caterer by night. Marcia has since appeared as a devil for Halloween 2025 and in the extra-fuzzy Fuzz-A-Mallows line.
Madchen (Lime Scented)
Madchen is an 8-inch Select Series capybara that smells like key lime ($14.99 MSRP). Select Series plush come with a black hang tag and are sold online only, according to Jazwares. Her bio says she runs a diner famous for a secret pie recipe passed down from her auntie.
Debra, Kenji, Nastia, Enya and Begonia
- Debra: a purple capybara (Squishdate January 11, 2024) reported in 8- and 16-inch sizes. A tiny 2.5-inch Debra in FIFA colors was a McDonald’s exclusive in 2026.
- Kenji: a teal and blue 10-inch capybara (April 17, 2024).
- Nastia: part of the Sherpa Hoodie squad, so she wears a fleecy teal hood (February 9, 2024).
- Enya: a pink 8-inch Select Series capybara (August 6, 2024).
- Begonia: a hybrid “capybara bee” in yellow and black (January 17, 2025).
Is There a 24-Inch Capybara Squishmallow?
We couldn’t confirm one. The largest capybara Squishmallow size listed in the databases we checked is 16 inches (Lijjian and Debra). Costco is known for 24-inch “jumbo” Squishmallows, but its assortment rotates and we found no record of a 24-inch capybara. If you see one advertised online, check the hang tag photos and the seller carefully, because counterfeit Squishmallows are common. If you want a really big capybara plush, our capybara plush guide covers 24- and 30-inch capybaras from Build-A-Bear and Wild Republic.
Where to Buy Capybara Squishmallows
- Official store: Jazwares’ Squishmallows shop lists Lijjian, Cyril, Marcia and Madchen, but all four were out of stock on October 20, 2026. Sign up for restock alerts there.
- Big retailers: SquadApp tracks capybara Squishmallow listings at retailers including Amazon, Target, Walgreens, Five Below, Claire’s and Hot Topic, and Best Buy has a listing for a 12-inch Lijjian. Most of the tracked listings were out of stock, so stock comes and goes.
- Outside the US: Amazon Canada appears in SquadApp’s listings for Lijjian and Kenji. We couldn’t confirm current UK or Australian availability for any capybara edition, so check local toy shops and the retailer’s own site.
- Resale: Older and seasonal editions (Christmas Tree, Devil, Select Series) mostly turn up on resale sites now. Compare the collector number and Squishdate on the tag with the table above to make sure you’re getting the real thing.
Why Is There a Capybara Squishmallow?
Capybaras became one of the internet’s favorite animals in the 2020s, thanks to their calm, unbothered faces, their habit of letting birds and other animals sit on them, and the viral “capybara onsen” photos from Japanese zoos. A round, sleepy, low-key animal is a natural fit for Squishmallows’ style. Want to know the real animal better?
